Scarlet Road Rage - a game for the future
25/28mm Product Enterprise’s superb, subtly weathered SPV and the quite shiny Corgi Passenger Car. We are Werelords, hear us howl. Not... The 20mm Corgi SPV with the very subtly weathered Konami Passenger Car. Back to the 20mm items from the front. The Corgi Passenger Car with door open and 25mm figure for scale. The same shot in 25/28mm with PE’s SPV and the Corgi Passenger Car. And the same sort of angle for the 25/28mm.
As I was in ModelZone at Croydon picking up some more Forces of
Valour and Dragon pre-painted 1/72nd scale stuff, one of the new SPV’s
caught my eye, and I got to thinking…
When I got it home I started looking up reference material and comparing
it to what I had. The figure inside the SPV seems right for size and – if
that’s any indication – then the vehicle is about 1/72nd: oh joy! It makes it
big, I grant you: slightly larger than a Challenger 2 – see the photos. But
for an armoured, armed, amphibious, 6 wheel drive (plus optional tracks)
two seater with room for a passenger or two, it seems about right…
If I can just dirty it up a bit and think of a game system… oh no: here
come the madness again…
Since buying the Corgi SPV I thought “all it needed was a Passenger Car
and my life would be complete”. Konami now make such an item and in
pretty much perfect scale (and yet - strangely - my life is still far from
complete...).
I mean Corgi make a Passenger Car but in fit the box scale (ie the same
size as the SPV). But – wait a minute…! Product Enterprises now make a
superb SPV in a bigger size too and… yep: both in 25mm – 28mm.
Now if I can just think up a game – in either of these scales – I’ve just got
to do one…
POST SCRIPT
My best idea for a game – largely influenced by Pete Merritt – is a rolling
road chase and I’m now buying scale plastic buildings to do something
along those lines…
